Ress Sustainability Hub
A nonprofit advancing sustainability initiatives across Uganda. Since 2024.
RESH sits inside the ESG framework, working across environment, social, and governance, with a community that ties it all together.
Integrity, decision making, and compliance. Transparent, accountable, and built to last.
Gender equality, inclusion, child safeguarding, and human rights. Thriving, equitable communities.
Climate, biodiversity, energy, emissions, and pollution control. Protecting the systems we depend on.
Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria. The way we measure meaningful change.
A network of sustainability practitioners connecting, sharing, and progressing together.
The idea for Ress Sustainability Hub took shape across 2022 and 2023, out of a recognition that awareness of sustainability and ESG frameworks in Uganda was lacking. It became a mission to close that gap.
Founder Jaffar Obeid Kamulegeya begins extensive discussions on sustainability and ESG gaps in Uganda.
Jaffar authors the Refugee Sustainable Solution while working in the sustainable finance team of one of the world's largest environmental organisations.
Ress Sustainability Hub is founded in Kampala. Hamzah Kivumbi, Rukia Namazzi, and Fatia Kamulegeya join as founding members.
Refugee Sustainable Solution, Kiku Community Development, and the Jash Community Fund are running in parallel.

Author of the Refugee Sustainable Solution and formerly with the sustainable finance team of one of the largest environmental organisations in the world.
His experience shaped RESH's vision: to bridge the knowledge gap on sustainability and promote practical, working approaches in Uganda.
Hamzah Kivumbi, Rukia Namazzi, and Fatia Kamulegeya joined as founding members, shaping the organisation from day one.

Ress is short for Refugee Sustainable Solution, a concept from our founder's master's thesis. It focuses on restoring stability and dignified livelihoods for displaced people.
Forced migration is one of the most pressing social challenges of our time. Yet ESG investments rarely address it as a reliable indicator.
Incorporating Refugee Sustainable Solutions can source and structure investment opportunities that benefit refugees and their host communities.
Resilience, empowerment, and protection for displaced people. A pathway toward a sustainable future.
